In late October 2017, I was one of twelve Flagstaff artists invited by the Grand Canyon Trust to participate in a three-day retreat at Kane Ranch. We learned about specific environmental challenges the Colorado Plateau faces, and the collaborative efforts facilitated by the Grand Canyon Trust and other entities such as the National Park Service, the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, to restore and protect the ecological, cultural and scenic integrity of the Colorado Plateau. The culmination of this residency was an exhibition at the Museum of Northern Arizona entitled, An Intimate Expanse: Voices for the Colorado Plateau.
