Drawing on Nature

Kendall Gallery at the Kendall School of Art and Design, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 2004

This installation combined two important themes in my work, both of which I have been exploring since I was an undergraduate: my love and passion for figure drawing (culture), and my concern for nature (key themes in my installations).  In this work, the prepared female deer, a symbol of nature, has taken the place of a female model.  Since it was a participatory piece, students and faculty were invited to draw at the drawing horses that surrounded the deer, and then take the drawings and hang them on the opposite side of the log wall.
